2016

What made you start Functional Fitness?
I was a personal trainer, looking to be challenged.

When did you come to SLSC?
I first came to SLSC for South Loop Games 2017, where I competed in a scaled division. There I met my first real Crossfit friends, who were members at SLSC.

What do you enjoy about SLSC?
Something I like about SLSC was my first experience there at the SL games 2017. I was battling back and fourth for third place, at my first ever Crossfit competition, still brand new to Crossfit. The women I was neck in neck with with almost every single event, would after the workout, come and tell me how good I did, and give me a high five, and proceeded to share her box of Dorite Donuts with me. That was a level of sportsmanship and camaraderie I haven’t felt since high school sports. Then that has been my experience with the community ever since. Always very supportive and uplifting of every single athlete in the gym despite any level, and will cheer on your victories.

What do you enjoy about coaching?
What I love most about coaching is the people. Not everyone gets to work with such a wide range of people every single day. I have made connections with people who had jobs I never knew existed! The people are why I do what I do. Seeing everyone overcome, challenge themselves, face their fears, and really want to be the best version of themselves possible. It is very rewarding to be able to be a part of their journey inside of the gym, and with life outside of it.

What would you say to someone who is considering trying out SLSC but is unsure?
You can never succeed, if you don’t try. It is scary and intimidating, for sure. But you never know what you will find, if you don’t take that step.
