When did you start CrossFit?
2016

What made you start CrossFit?
I started CrossFit because I wanted to try something new — I was bored with my regular training regimen and needed a fresh challenge. Once I got into CrossFit, I loved how it made me feel: stronger, more conditioned, and mentally pushed in a different way. Then I discovered Olympic weightlifting (Oly) and completely fell in love with the sport. The technical precision, the power, the discipline — it drew me in. Over the years, I’ve learned how to balance both CrossFit and Olympic lifting in a way that complements each other. Strength from Oly improves my performance in CrossFit, and CrossFit keeps my conditioning sharp for lifting. Finding that balance has been key, and it’s made my training more intentional and sustainable.

What do you enjoy about SLSC?
One of the things I love most about SLSC is the people. From the coaching and gym staff to the members, the community at South Loop is just different. Everyone brings such great energy, and it really makes the space feel welcoming and motivating.

There are always groovy vibes in the gym — it’s a place where you can work hard, push yourself, and still have fun. I also really appreciate the variety of coaching styles and backgrounds. Each coach brings something unique, which keeps training fresh and gives you the opportunity to learn from different perspectives.

What do you enjoy about coaching?
What I love most about coaching is the level of excitement and gratitude it brings into my life. There’s something really special about being part of someone’s health and fitness journey — helping them push past limits, build confidence, and realize they’re capable of more than they thought.

I genuinely love seeing people win. Whether it’s hitting a PR, mastering a new skill, or just showing up on a tough day, those moments matter. Being able to witness that growth and play even a small role in it is incredibly rewarding.

What would you say to someone who is considering trying out SLSC but is unsure?
Stop by the gym and give it your best shot. Even if it’s not perfect and not for you, you’ll walk away knowing you tried.
